Earlier this year Youghal Chamber of Tourism & Development ran a high end Tour Guide Training course in conjunction with Failte Ireland, the objective of which is to increase the body of local tour guides and to enhance the tourism brand in Youghal. The course finished with an intensive series of examinations and recently the awards ceremony took place, honouring the graduates.

Marie Barry, Chamber President, who presented the awards was delighted with the reaction to the course which consisted of a combination of local heritage, history and practical tour guide skills.

“I would like to offer congratulations to the graduates of the course.  It will be of huge benefit to the town and our tourism offering in providing local people with the real practical skills and knowledge required to conduct high quality tours throughout Youghal”  commented Marie at the awards.

The training will supplement the existing Youghal Heritage Trail, which highlights important heritage sites and has proved hugely popular, surpassing all expectations with the demand.
